Scent of Spring Hooded Cape

When most people think about the craft of crochet they generally associate it with winter items such as hats and scarves. In reality there are many beautiful crochet items for any season.
The Scent of Spring hooded cape by Maz Kwok is a good example of that.

This lacy hooded wrap is just the perfect thing to cover your little lady's arms for Easter or any special spring occasion. The Scent of Spring hooded cape by Maz Kwok is offered as a free crochet pattern in size 2xs/xs.

I made it in a sport weight yarn and added a few rows for extra length and it was a good fit for a girl that wears a child's 6x. Very simple and easy to follow if you can make a double crochet you can make this lovely cape. Worked flat down from the top and then reattaching the yarn at the top and working flat again hood is made with single seem up the middle.

I would like to make note of a few differences in the one I crocheted versus the original from the designer.
  •  1. The original was trimmed in contrasting fun fur, I didn't have that available so I simply just trimmed it out in contrasting color of the same yarn.
  •  2. Straps to be used as ties were attached to the sides of the cape in the original, in the one I made the neckties were a chain that was woven though the seam where the hood and cape meet like a drawstring.
