This delicate little shrug is actually a clever hack to the popular free crochet pattern Eva's Shawl by Milobo. If you pay attention to how simple this is constructed you could easily make this type of shrug out of any shawl in any size.

Janette Wise explains how this a shawl she started crocheting for herself ended up being made into a smart little shrug for her daughter on her blog The Green Dragonfly. Basically by stopping short and tacking the sides together to make arm holes she was able to fashion this would-be shawl into a classy shrug.
This pattern in both the shawl and shrug form called for a lace weight yarn. Trying something new I ordered some Enchant yarn by Premier, a lace weight yarn with tiny sequins woven into the thread. A very fine yarn that was a little hard to manage at first, It was very much as I would imagine it would be to crochet with dental floss.
